England defender stands like a man mountain at the centre of the Villa rearguard, but he can expect competition from Curtis Davies this term
Towering defender fulfilled a boyhood dream when he joined Aston Villa from Fulham in August 2007 for £3.5 million.
He made his debut against Chelsea, scoring a header in a 2-0 victory, which ended up being Jose Mourinho's last game in charge of the London club.
After cementing his place in the Villains’ defence he was sent off in a 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, and the ban cost him his place. He returned to the starting line-up after Curtis Davies's season was cruelly ended by a ruptured Achilles tendon.
During his time at Fulham Knight impressed enough to pick up two England caps. He made his debut for the Three Lions in May 2005 as a substitute against the USA and his second cap followed three days later against Colombia.
With Fabio Capello now in charge of the England team Knight will be looking to work his way back into the international set-up.
