Having moved across London in 2006, Gallas' spell at The Emirates is so far more memorable for stropping rather than stopping...
Arrived at Arsenal as part of the deal which saw Ashley Cole heading to Chelsea in August 2006.
Not keen to wear the number three shirt left vacant by the England left-back, Gallas instead took Dennis Bergkamp’s treasured number 10 but has failed to hit anywhere near the same grandiose heights as the Dutchman.
To be fair, the Frenchman spent much of his first season playing out of position at left-back, but once he returned to the centre of defence he was rewarded with the club captaincy.
Nobody could question Gallas’ commitment and quality as a stopper, but questions remain over his temperament.
