Solid centre-back who is useful with his head. Benefited from time alongside Des Walker early on in his career
Rejected by Notts County as a schoolboy, Morgan switched to Forest and, having excelled in the youth team, made his debut against Port Vale in 2003.
He maintained his place that season, following a loan spell at Kidderminster, and featured alongside the likes of former England defender Des Walker and future England defender Michael Dawson. With his bulky 14st frame, ‘Big Wes’ is a powerful centre-half with great aerial presence, making him a favourite of manager Colin Calderwood.
Morgan has now made more than 200 appearances for the club and was a virtual ever-present as the club won promotion to the Championship in 2007-08.
