Pope's impressive displays in 2007/08 have given the Gresty Road faithful belief that he is a star in the making
After being rejected by Crewe as a schoolboy Pope made a huge name for himself in the non-league ranks with Biddulph Victoria smashing in goals with regularity as a raw 17-year-old.
His exploits caught the eye of the Railwaymen who decided to give Pope another opportunity, paying a nominal fee for his services to the Midland Alliance club in the summer of 2005.
After waiting patiently for his first team debut, which came in March 2007, 6ft 3” Pope’s form accelerated rapidly as he maintained an excellent goals to games ratio for the Alex.
His seven goals from 15 starts in the difficult 2007/08 campaign has signalled a bright future for the youngster at Gresty Road.
