After a two year gap in his carrier due to a knee injury, Dunfield came back to be as strong as ever
Macclesfield’s midfield general Dunfield – born in Vancouver – played alongside Shaun Wright-Phillips and Joey Barton in Manchester City’s youth team and made one Premiership appearance against Chelsea in 2001, before Kevin Keegan sold him to Bury in 2002.
After an indifferent spell with the Shakers a serious knee injury forced him out of the game for two years. Showing immense resolve and real grit and determination, Dunfield made a full recovery and has been back to his best at Macclesfield, showing a willingness to graft in the centre of the park, tremendous distribution and uncanny ability to read the game – although he may wish to up his output in the final 25 yards.
