Scouse striker turned wing wizard has joined Paul Jewell's rebuilding project at Pride Park
A former trainee for Tranmere Rovers, Davies made his debut against Oldham in August 2005 at the age of 17.
Though he started out as a striker, the form of Rovers team-mate Chris Greenacre saw Davies shunted to the left wing for the 2006/07 season, where his pace and direct running made him one of League One’s most valuable commodities. Leeds United had unsuccessfully tried to sign him at the start of the 2007/08 campaign and he suffered a knee injury just a couple of months into the campaign, only returning to the side in April 2008.
However, the knee injury did not stop Paul Jewell pursuing the player, and when Davies's contract expired in June 2008 he joined Derby on a three-year contract, with the fee to be decided by a tribunal.
