Sherriff rode into Shrewsbury during the summer with Town manager Paul Simpson claiming his new signing was “worth his weight in gold”
The versatile left-sided Australian was brought to England by Leeds who plucked him from New South Wales’ Academy, but he failed to break into the first-team at Elland Road despite once being named amongst the substitutes against Manchester United.
After a brief loan spell at Rochdale, Sherriff spent three seasons playing in the Danish top-flight for Aarhus before returning to the UK with Tranmere.
Able to operate in central defence, at left-back or on the left side of midfield, Sherriff was named Rovers’ captain ahead of the 2006/07 campaign and went on to feature over 80 times for the Prenton Park outfit.
He has represented his country at U17 and U23 level and was part of the squad that competed at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
