Midfielder

Tenacious midfield battler has risen through the ranks at Wednesday. Will be looking to pick up where he left off last season

The former Bolton youngster operates as a central midfielder, and is a box-to-box player who loves to get stuck into tackles.

He joined Wednesday in the summer of 2003, moving straight into the club’s academy, and making his senior debut in February 2006 in a 3-0 defeat at Southampton.

He made his first start on the final day of the season at Derby County and was then named Young Player of the Year before falling back down the pecking order following the arrival of Brian Laws as boss.

Sent out on loan to Mansfield and Bury during the 2007/08 season, he returned to the Wednesday side during the later months of the season and impressed enough to earn a new two-year contract.

A player with a lot of potential. Gets box to box, works hard and is a superb tackler, still very young, an exciting prospect.

His career was transformed in March 2008 when he and Deon Burton came on as subs for Ronnie Wallwork and Enoch Showunmi against QPR - a first half tactical switch. Until then we were being battered but suddenly we became a different side thanks to the injection of energy and intelligence into our midfield. Sadly he was soon injured so we stuggled again at the end of the season but now he's back our midfield is looking good. Tudgay has described him and O'Connor as 'our midfield rats'. Neither of them are tall but they chase everywhere, win loads of possession and play simple intelligent balls. A terric player, and he came through our youth system too. My biggest worry is that he is so brave in the tackle that he's always likely to get injured. We need him.

Only just recently came into the team, looks very promising.
