After leaving Darlington, Valentine moved to the Welsh side Wrexham for a season before moving back to Darlington in time to help in the play-offs
Former Everton trainee and Wales U21 international defender Valentine previously played for Darlington for four seasons from 2002-06, racking up over 150 league appearances for the Quakers. He left to spend two years with his hometown club Wrexham and played a crucial role in the Welsh side’s survival bid in 2006/07, scoring from the penalty spot in the final-day relegation decider against Boston United to preserve their Football League status.
A pacy full-back who likes to get forward and support the strikers from either flank, Valentine couldn’t help the ailing Red Dragons again the following season as they plummeted towards the Conference and so returned north to Darlington in January 2008 to assist with his former club’s play-off push.
