Nippy full-back who showed great promise in the lower leagues but has been dogged by injuries since moving to the top flight
Pacy right-back Taylor broke into the first team at his local club Tranmere at 17, going on to rack up over 100 appearances.
Since signing for the Latics in 2005, he has seen his progress severely curtailed by injury. Having been sidelined for six months with the dreaded broken metatarsal he then fractured his leg in his first game back.
An attack-minded defender known for the accuracy of his crossing, Taylor is also a free-kick specialist who twice beat Newcastle keeper Shay Given from long range after making his comeback in the 2007-08 season.
After scoring 4 goals in 4 games against Newcastle as a Wigan player, Taylor made the switch to Tyneside in the 2009 winter transfer window. He signed for Newcastle for an undisclosed fee.
