Nephew of former Arsenal stalwart David O’Leary, Ryan, is developing into an accomplished defender
O’Leary has been a patient lad and is beginning to get his rewards. A potent talent who Jim Jefferies believes might one day earn the club a Stephen Naismith-sized transfer fee, the nephew of former Arsenal star David O’Leary is an impressive utility defender, filling in at right-back, left-back and central midfield.
He has had to wait his turn since arriving from Aberdeen in 2004, but now looks every inch a first-team player.
The FAI made advances due to his Irish ties, but O’Leary has instead chosen to turn out at U21 level for Scotland, the country of his birth.
