After a horrendous six months at Liverpool, and an indifferent year back at Spurs, Keane has finally arrived home...
The former Tottenham vice-captain and crowd favourite finally opted to up-sticks from N17 in favour of a move to his boyhood club (or at least one of them), Liverpool.
The cartwheeling forward spent six years at White Hart Lane, although it wasn't until Dimitar Berbatov's arrival at the club that he really cemented a regular place in the team or bothered the top-scorers lists: 49 of his 107 goals for the Lilywhites came after the Bulgarian joined in May 2006.
A succession of Spurs managers had, at one time or another, eulogised the efforts of the former Coventry and Inter Milan player, with current manager Juande Ramos claiming Keane to be, “Very skilful and a big influence on the team.”
Alongside Dimitar Berbatov, Keane had formed one of the Premier League’s most potent strike partnerships; in their two years together they combined to score 91 goals.
However after Spurs finished a disappointing 11th in 2007/08, Keane seized upon the chance to jump ship, moving to Anfield in a controversial £20m move.
After a massively dissapointing six months at Liverpool, during which Keane was dropped several times by Rafael Benitez, the striker re-joined Tottenham on the last day of the winter transfer window for £12m and was given the captains armband straight away.
Despite helping the North Londoners away from the drop zone in 2008/09, things weren't quite the same for Keane at Spurs second time round and, after angering Harry Redknapp by organizing a Christmas party for the players in Dublin and losing his place in the first team to Peter Crouch, Keane was offered the chance of another quick exit - this time to another of his boyhood clubs, Celtic.
