Defender

Brings born and bred Sheffield steel to the heart of the Wednesday defence. Followed manager Brian Laws from Scunthorpe United

Regarded as a tough-tackling yet composed centre-half, Sheffield-born Hinds started out with Tranmere Rovers in 1998, where he made a name for himself as a consistent and reliable performer.

After 51 appearances he switched to League Two Hull City, helping the club to promotion before moving down the east coast to rivals Scunthorpe United in 2005.

Under then-Iron manager Brian Laws he was named Player of the Year in his first season and then helped the club to the Championship before following Laws to Hillsborough in July 2007.

He has since played regularly at the heart of defence for his boyhood heroes, making 30 league starts in his first season.

A good player, fairly solid defender at the back, not much take notice of him, media-wise. Like him though, can do a good job.

Hindsy is a nice bloke, and a Brian Laws favourite. Had a spell at Hull but was very much a squad player. He didnt stand out in league 0ne, so im surprised he is still involved in the championship.

The only reason he is getting played pretty much week in week out is because of his good relationship with Brian Laws, who managed Hinds at Scunthorpe United. Under any other manager, he probably would be dropped to the bench permanently.

To be fair he only got so many games last season because a) he's versatile and b)we had so many injuries. He wouln't be first choice in the team but does a steady job as a utility squad member. He's a good bloke, with good attitude and a born and bred Owls fan which is nice but he's fairly limited as a player at this level, especialy as a full back when he's clearly out of his depth when trying to go forward
