Big, strong and uncompromising. Dunne has established himself as one of the fiercest defenders in the Premier League
A big favourite at Eastlands – he has scooped the supporters’ Player of the Year award in each of the last three seasons – the strapping, broad-shouldered Dunne has gradually established himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable centre-halves since his move from Everton in October 2000.
Made captain for the 2006/07 season, the Republic of Ireland international relished the responsibility and his brave and timely interventions helped City to a best top-flight finish in more than a decade in 2007/08.
Chief among a host of stirring displays was a fine showing in City’s first victory at Old Trafford in 34 years.
