Since having joined County in 2007 he has made a very impressive mark, becoming the club's top goal scorer
One of a few former Lincoln City players at Meadow Lane, experienced central midfielder Butcher joined Notts in summer 2007 from Peterborough United after falling out of favour at London Road despite finishing the previous campaign as a regular fixture in the Posh starting XI.
A key component in midfield with his strength and pinpoint passing, Butcher often likes to saunter forward and support the forwards: after netting 12 league goals in over 100 outings for Lincoln, he managed to equal that figure in a single season with the Magpies during 2007/08. His 12 goals from 46 starts made him the club’s top scorer by some distance, which summed up the club’s travails, given that recognised strikers Lawrie Dudfield and Spencer Weir-Daley only bagged three each.
