Seized his chance when injury crocked team-mate Peter Brezovan. Will be vying for the No1 jersey with the giant Slovak this season
Despite intense competition for the number one jersey at the County Ground, Smith has impressed when called upon for the Robins since arriving at the club from non-league Crawley in July 2006.
Smith began his career as a trainee at Millwall, but was forced to move elsewhere in search of first team football, spending time at Folkstone, Dover and Margate before making his name in the Conference.
Smith made his Swindon debut in a 2-2 League Cup draw with Brentford at the County Ground in August 2006 and was named the Swindon supporters’ Player of the Year at the end of his first season at the club.
