Curse you, Gary Neville!!! Right-back finally gives up on Old Trafford dream after 14 years at the club
One of a number of former Manchester United players at Sunderland, Bardsley was signed by Keane during the January 2008 transfer window for a fee that could rise to £2m.
The right-back had spent his entire career at United, having joined the club aged nine. However, with first-team chances at a premium, he was reliant on a succession of loan spells for a taste of first-team action.
Bardsley made just eight league appearances for United and spent time at Royal Antwerp, Burnley, Rangers, Aston Villa and Sheffield United, before finally swapping Old Trafford for the Stadium of Light. Bardsley made his Black Cats’ debut against Birmingham in January 2008.
