If Gary’s younger brother was disappointed to leave Manchester United after close on 400 appearances in 2005, he certainly hasn’t shown it. In fact, the Everton skipper has arguably been in the form of his life since his arrival on Merseyside.
Whether on the left or right side of defence - and occasionally in midfield - he has become one of the mainstays for David Moyes’ boys, winning an England recall in the process; the last of his 59 caps coming in the 3-0 win over Estonia in October 2007.
Though goalscoring has never been his forte, he managed two in 2007/08.
