Record-breaking striker looks to overcome injuries and establish himself as a regular while still in his teens
Having joined County at age 11, Paul Turnbull played for the youth, reserves and first teams while still at school and, although injuries have hampered his progress, he's under exactly the right manager in Jim Gannon to stake a claim for an extended first-team run.
His first-team debut, while still hitting the books at Wilmslow High School, came in a League Two match against Wrexham in April 2005 – an appearance that saw him become the Hatters’ youngest-ever Football League player, at 16 years and three months old. A series of injuries have limited his appearances since, but the 6ft striker made a successful return to the side in the club’s triumphant 2007/08 season, becoming a regular starter under Gannon before spending the final part of the season gaining experience on loan at Conference outfit Altrincham.
