In this day and age not many professional footballers have beards. Paul Hartley does and for this he should be applauded
The much-travelled Scotland international began his career at Hamilton before heading south to Millwall in 1996.
Further moves to Raith, Hibernian and St Johnstone followed before Hartley came to the fore in four successful seasons with Hearts.
After becoming another victim of the Vladamir Romanov’s tempestuous reign at Tynecastle he was snapped up by Celtic for £1.1m in January 2007. He has since established himself as one the club’s most influential performers.
Hartley scored his first goal for the club in a crucial Champions League qualifier against Spartak Moscow at the start of the 2007/08 season.
