Kilkenny is unlikely to forget his Premier League debut - he was sent off for deliberate hand ball against Liverpool
As a youngster Kilkenny was spotted by Arsenal, before moving on to Birmingham City at the age of 18, where he enjoyed two successful loan spells at Oldham Athletic and one at Leeds United.
In the 2005/2006 season Kilkenny played in the Premier League under Steve Bruce and despite being sent off against Liverpool for hand-ball on the line, ultimately costing the blues victory, he was praised by his manager for his performances during the season.
After relegation with Birmingham that year he found it difficult to break into the first team and his loan move to Leeds United was made permanent in 2008.
As an attack minded midfielder Kilkenny is one of the club’s main providers but has never scored as many goals as his talent suggests he is capable of.
He represented Australia at the 2008 Olympics and with youth still very much on his side, it's quite possible his best is yet to come.
