Nigerian-born defender has shown great promise since graduating from the City youth academy
One of an impressive number City academy graduates, the Nigerian-born defender will be hoping a promising start to his career remains free of the injury niggles that have hampered his excellent early progress.
A natural centre-half who can also fill in at right-back or left-back, he turned professional in November 2004, making his debut against Arsenal in the Carling Cup.
Within a year and a half he found himself drafted into regular action, both for club and country with England’s U21 side.
An intelligent player, he notched his first senior goal in the 2007/08 win over Spurs, but a dislocated shoulder against Chelsea brought his season to an early end.
