In Nani comes an almost carbon copy of Cristiano Ronaldo: speed, skill, flicks, tricks and rubbish hair
Any young Portuguese talent arriving at Old Trafford these days faces daunting comparisons with one Cristiano Ronaldo, but Nani seems unfazed by the high expectations.
Fast, skilful and capable of scoring extravagant goals he managed a creditable 41 games and four goals in his first year after joining in July 2007 for £17m. Born in Cape Verde, Nani’s family emigrated to Portugal at an early age, where he played junior football for Real de Massama before joining Sporting Lisbon.
He made his debut there at 18 and picked up a first Portugal cap a year later.
