The Aussie schemer will be hoping to finally make a name for himself in Europe, while taking Derby back up in the process...
Operating either down the right flank or tucked in behind the main striker, Sterjovski is a highly creative player who should be more than able to mix it in the Championship.
Born in Australia but of Macedonia descent, Sterjovski started his career with home town side Wollongong Wolves, before turning out for Illawarra Lions, Sydney United and Parramatta Power in his homeland.
In 2000 he moved to Europe, signing for French side Lille and acting as a bit-part player, scoring 15 goals in 91 matches over a four year period.
He then moved to Swiss giants FC Basel and was again in and out of the side, scoring 10 times in 73 appearances under former Spurs boss Christian Gross’ stewardship. He did, however, pocket a title-winners medal in his first season with the club.
In the summer of 2007, Sterjovski left for a brief spell in Turkey with Genclerbirligi, where he finally found regular first team football.
By the January of 2008 he had attracted the attentions of Derby boss Paul Jewell, who took the Aussie forward to Pride Park in a vain attempt to stave off relegation, playing 12 times as the Rams were sent packing back to the second tier.
