Having been handed the chance of yet another new start, this time at the JJB, Mido would be well advised to finally realise his potential
The much-travelled striker is as renowned for his off-field demands as his on-pitch exploits and, after struggling to settle at clubs from Ajax to Zamalek, the North African’s spell at The Riverside has followed a familiar pattern of underachievement.
Blessed with a turn of pace, the skillful forward arrived at Middlesbrough in the summer of 2007, having previously turned out for Spurs, Ajax, Roma, Celta Vigo and Marseille, but found his opportunities under at the Riverside limited by a series of injuries, a loss of form and competition from Afonso Alves.
Therefore it was no surprise to seem the nomadic striker on the move again, with the JJB and Wigan his latest port of call in January 2009, on a six month loan deal.
His international career has been as turbulent as his club career, with the player being involved in a host of high-profile bust-ups with a series of national coaches.
