Lofty central defender who has established himself in the Hull side after initially struggling. Club's 2006/07 player of the year
Born and bred in south London, this 6ft 4in central defender began his career with local club Charlton, where he progressed to captain the reserves but failed to step up to the first team.
He made his League debut during a seven-game loan spell at Leyton Orient in early 2003 before signing for Brentford in August 2004. Turner became Phil Parkinson’s first purchase for the Tigers in July 2006 (£350,000).
Brought in to replace the popular Leon Cort, he struggled at first to make an impression but established himself in 2006/07, when his power and strength in the air saw him voted the club’s Player of the Year.
