Six foot four of promising centre-back, apparently being watched by Liverpool and West Brom among others
The towering 6ft 4in centre-back broke into the Stockport first team at the tender age of 17 after making an impressive debut against Swansea in the FA Cup in January 2005. His form was enough to persuade the club to offer him his first professional contract two months later.
Born in nearby Wythenshawe, Raynes has gone onto prove himself as one of the most promising central defenders in the lower divisions, a fact recognised when Gannon offered the player a new two-year extension to his current deal in January 2008. Despite a series of injury problems Raynes fought his way back into first-team reckoning as the Hatters maintained their ultimately successful promotion charge towards the end of the 2007/08 season.
