Mancienne is tipped to become an international regular, but he'll need to find regular games in the Premier League first
Mancienne joined Chelsea as a 9-year-old, having impressed Blues scouts while playing for Kingstonian.
The Isleworth born defender made his debut for Chelsea’s reserve side while still at school before travelling with the senior side on their pre-season tour of the USA in 2006 and then taking a place on the bench for the Community Shield and first two Premier League games of the 2006/07 season.
Shortly after this he was sent on loan to QPR for the remainder of the season, where he mainly filled in at right back, but also played a handful of matches at centreback. His performances in the R’s backline were enough to earn him both the club’s Young Player of the Year award and a further season on loan at Loftus Road.
He returned to Chelsea for pre-season in 2008 but, still finding himself behind the likes of John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho and Alex, he was again sent out on loan, this time for an initial two months to promotion chasing Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Within a month he had earned a surprise call-up to Fabio Capello’s England squad for the November 2008 friendly against Germany.
