Even though Taylor started out his carrier as a goalkeeper, he had no problem adjusting to a defensive position and now sees regular action in Exeter's back four
In one of the more bizarre stories in English football, central defender Taylor arrived at St James Park in August 2007 having been plucked from university outfit Team Bath, the former club of Exeter manager Paul Tisdale. But prior to his one successful season playing with students, Taylor had spent over five seasons plying his trade as a goalkeeper, and even kept goal for Burscough in the 2003 FA Trophy Final at Villa Park.
His transformation into an outfield player has been as impressive as it has been rapid, with Taylor performing rock solidly at the back throughout his debut season with the Grecians, starting over 40 games and weighing in with nine goals.
