Having proved himself at Southend, the former Spurs kid has stepped up a level to start a new life with Swansea
Former England Schoolboy cap Gower began his career a Tottenham where he made a couple of League Cup appearances before joining Barnet in January 2001 for £30,000 (via a loan spell at Motherwell).
Predominantly right-footed, he can play on either flank, making use of his composure, ability to go past people and fine delivery to create chances for his frontmen. He made 94 appearances for Barnet, before joining Southend United and catching the eye during 200 games for the club.
When his contract ran out at the end of the 2007/08 season, he was snapped up by Swans boss Roberto Martinez who has earmarked Gower (and his Championship experience) as the ideal replacement for Andy Robinson, who quit the club for Leeds United.
