Goalkeeper

Mark Bunn has shown he is worthy of the first keeper position, and has been loyal to his team since he joined

The London-born goalkeeper has been a regular at Sixfields since making his League One debut for the club on the opening day of the 2006/07 season against Nottingham Forest. Bunn graduated through the club’s youth ranks and was handed his chance by then Northampton Town boss John Gorman.

He has built a reputation as one of the division’s most promising keepers and was a virtual ever-present for the Cobblers throughout the 2007/08 season as the club enjoyed a top half finish. His form has alerted a host of Championship clubs to his talents, newly-promoted Notts Forest among them. Bunn also spent time training with Manchester City during the 2007/08 season.

Having recently completed a move to Blackburn Rovers, young Mark Bunns is unlikely to challenge Numnber One first choice Paul Robinson immediately. Nevertheless Paul Ince has picked up one of the finest young goalkeepers from the League 1 level in the shape of Mark Bunn.

After displacing Lee Harper in the Northampton Town goal after John Gorman came to the club, Bunn has rapidly matured into a fine 'keeper. One or two mad moments have been eradicated out of his game and he is now a solid goalkeeper, who is an excellent shot stopper. He commands his penalty area well and in time could become the sort of goalkeeper who would grace the Premiership. Only time will tell, but he certainly has all the neccessary attributes to suceed at the very highest level.
