Defender

Towering defender with a bright future. The England U19 international is attracting the attention of Premier League scouts

Winner of the 2008 Championship Young Apprentice of the Year award and also voted Sheffield Wednesday’s Player of the Year, Beevers has caused a quite stir since marking his debut as a 17-year-old with an assured performance against Southampton in January 2007.

Barnsley-born, he joined the Owls at the age of 12, breaking into the reserve and U18 sides at the end of the 2005/06 campaign before entering the fast lane.

An imposing centre-half, standing 6ft 2in tall, he is strong in the air, hard in the tackle, and really established himself as a first-team regular for the 2007/08 campaign.

His classy performances sparked interest from Everton, while Chelsea also sent scouts to watch the England U19 international.

Very good young player. Could be a Premiership defender in the future.

The best defender in the squad and the one of the most promising in the league.

A hugely talented centre-back. He's got strength, heading ability, decent passing skills and a great work ethic. He's got average pace, but his reading of the game makes up for it. I'd like to see him improve his positional sense, but this'll happen when he moves to a big club. Expect to see a big Premier League club sign him next summer

Great prospect and one of wednesdays best players. And where's he from? Barnsley!
