Talented striker plagued by injury problems. Has vowed to make up for lost time with a hatful of goals this season
Tudgay came through the ranks at Derby County, making his debut in August 2002. In 59 starts for the club, he netted a productive 18 goals and earned plaudits for his fine hold-up play, ability to link well with the runners behind him and, most of all, his leap and aerial prowess.
He moved to Wednesday in January 2006, where his early goals helped to keep the club in the Championship, but he made the worst possible start to his first full season when he severed tendons in his foot after treading on glass at a family barbecue.
However, he still ended the campaign with 11 goals, often from the wide positions, and added a further eight goals in 2007/08.
