Who wanna be a Painter man? You would if you got the warm glow of the Swans fans' adulation, like this committed left-back does
A product of Birmingham City’s academy, Painter is a tough-tackling defender who made his first-team debut in September 2005 against Scunthorpe United in the Carling Cup.
He made a handful of first-team appearances at St Andrews before joining the Swans on loan in November 2006. After successfully covering for the injured Tom Williams, he moved permanently in early 2007 for £50,000.
With his commitment to the cause and willingness to break forward, he has become a fans’ favourite and first-choice in the left-back position; he can also cover at centre-back (he's 6ft tall) and has been known to play on the left of midfield. Birmingham-born, he has represented the Republic of Ireland at U19, U20 and U21 level.
