Former England U21 international regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship
The former England U21 international made his debut for Derby County against Burnley in 2002, becoming an instant hit with his commanding displays, shot-stopping and agility.
He made 30 appearances that season, winning the Young Player of the Year and was soon in the England U21 set-up, being tipped as an England star of the future.
Yet within two years, the Rams had produced a second highly-promising young keeper and Grant found himself playing understudy to Lee Camp.
Wrist and shoulder problems compounded his woes and loan spells at Burnley and Oldham followed before he signed a three-year contract with Sheffield Wednesday in July 2007.
Almost overnight, he found his early career form and was praised as one of the best keepers in the Championship by boss Brian Laws during the 2007/08 season.
