Strong centre-back who can switch to full-back when needed. Taken in both Nottingham clubs in a career that started in 2004
At 6ft 2in and 12st, Wilson is regarded first and foremost as an imposing centre-half but he has also operated in both full-back positions during his fledgling career.
Nottingham-born, he started his career across the Trent at County, making his debut in April 2004 against Hartlepool. After 78 league appearances in three seasons, Wilson was taken on loan in March 2006 by Preston before signing at the end of the season for £300,000.
However, he started just 16 games in 2006-07 before joining Forest for the 2007-08 campaign. He was a virtual ever-present alongside Wes Morgan in the centre of defence as Forest gained automatic promotion to the Championship.
