Once a striker, Langmead’s been rehabilitated into a centre-back, marshalling the Shrews to the 2007 League Two Play-Off final
Shrewsbury stalwart Langmead has been at the club since originally joining on loan in November 2004 and had made over 150 league appearances by the end of the 2007/08 campaign.
Langmead began his career as a powerful, holding striker at Preston and made just the one substitute outing at Deepdale before becoming a Shrew.
But having scored 13 times for the club as a forward, he impressed Town boss Gary Peters with his aerial prowess at defending set-pieces and was subsequently converted into a centre-back.
By the end of the 2006/07 season he had helped steer Shrewsbury to the League Two play-off final as well as picking up the fans’ and players’ player of the year award.
