Kamil Zayatte began his started his career in 2005 at R.C Lens in France. His spell at Lens was very short and Zayatte soon transferred to BSC Young Boys in Switzerland.
After impressing there, Zayatte spent initially six months on loan at Premiership side Hull City at the start of the 2008/2009 season. The big centre-back performed well in his first six months in England and his move to the KC Stadium was made permanent during the 2009 winter transfer window fro £2.5m.
