Defender

Having failed to break into the first team at Arsenal, Hoyte will hope his move north will help him establish himself in the Premier League

Right-back Hoyte rose through the ranks at Arsenal, and spent several years battling for a place in the starting line-up.

Used fleeting in the Premier League, Hoyte was usually reserved for the League Cup and early rounds of the FA Cup by Arsene Wenger.

He can thank his parents for his athleticism – his mother was an England international sprinter and his father is an athletics coach.

He became the first Englishman to score for Arsenal at Emirates when he struck against Charlton in January 2007.

In the summer of 2008 he opted to leave The Emirates in favour of more regular first team football with Middlesbrough.

Possibly the weakest link in the Arsenal side at the moment. He's pacy and cross the ball rather well, but his positional sense leaves a lot to be desired and his tackling could be better. I can't forsee him breaking into the first team, but he proved at Sunderland that he can perform well in the bottom half of the league. The rumoured move to Middlesbrough would be beneficial to his career
