Learned his trade at Arsenal as a left winger, has converted to a versatile left sided player.
The former Arsenal trainee joined Crystal Palace for £500,000 in 2000 and became an integral player as Palace earned promotion to the Premier League in 2003-04.
At that time, he was an attacking left-winger; direct, quick and not afraid to try his luck from distance.
Out of contract that summer, he joined former boss Steve Bruce at Birmingham and initially played well, though his attacking instincts were curbed against tougher opposition and once Gary McSheffrey joined the club for the 2006-07 season, he was deemed surplus to requirements. Gray joined Coventry in July 2007 where has occasionally been used, successfully, as a left-back.
Gray initially joined Fulham on loan in September 2008 and made the deal permanent in the 2009 winter transer window for an undisclosed fee.
