Hard working left-back who has fought to win his place and then fend off highly rated challengers to his position
Released by Forest as a youth player, Bennett made over 50 appearances for Walsall before returning to the City Ground in 2006. He initially failed to make much of an impact but gradually he emerged as first-choice left-back.
The arrival of the highly-rated Matt Lockwood from Leyton Orient looked likely to herald a stint on the bench, but Bennett stood firm with his powerful running and willingness to break forward,
earning himself plenty of plaudits and a place in the PFA League One Team of the Year as Forest won promotion.
A fantastic season was rounded off when Lockwood was sold to Southend United.
