The Spain international’s services were secured by his compatriot Rafa Benitez in July 2005 and, barring the odd game, he’s been present in the Liverpool net since.
Reina began his career with Barcelona, making his debut at 18. Limited chances at the Nou Camp saw him seek a loan spell to Villarreal before Benitez came knocking.
Noted for his agile saves, excellent distribution and prowess in penalty shoot-outs, he immediately settled at Anfield. In 2007-08 Reina scooped the Golden Glove award for the most clean sheets in the Premier League – for the third time in a row.
