Nigerian international blessed with versatility and composure that belies his tender years. A rock at the heart of the Everton rearguard
Quick, strong, dominant in the air and uncompromising in the tackle – the Nigerian international is one of Goodison Park’s unsung heroes.
Yobo first impressed David Moyes during an initial loan spell, joining the club permanently for £4 million in July 2003 after protracted negotiations with his former charges, Marseille.
He has scarcely looked back since.
In April 2008 he became the club’s record-appearance-holder for an overseas player and captained the side in Europe in the absence of Phil Neville.
He is also extremely active off the pitch with charity work in his homeland, funding scholarships from primary to university level.
