Bitter with a creamy head? No, this Worthington – a famous name in HTFC's history – is a battling midfielder and former club captain
A combative, aggressive midfielder, Jon Worthington turned professional in August 2002 and just a week after putting pen to paper on his first contract he was drafted into the Terriers side to face Plymouth at Home Park.
The Dewsbury-born 5ft 8in battler quickly established himself as an integral part of the Huddersfield midfield and he was virtual ever present in the line-up during the 2003/04 season. Prone to collecting more than his fair share of yellow cards, Worthington – the team's captain from 2004 until 2008, when caretaker boss Gerry Murphy urged the midfielder to concentrate on his own game – featured in 25 League One fixtures in 2007/08 and is under contract with the club until the summer of 2009.
