He didn't make the grade at Reading but impressed at Kidderminster and Mansfield – now he wants to do the same in the third tier for Countny
Out-of-contract Mullins was snapped up by Gannon in June 2008 following Mansfield’s relegation from the League. The Hampstead-born right-back, who showed his versatility over two years by playing anywhere across the defence for a struggling Mansfield side, fits the Gannon prototype – young and with something to prove.
He began his career at Reading's academy, captaining the reserves without breaking into the first team, instead spending two lengthy loan spells in 2004/05 and 2005/06 with Kidderminster Harriers, being nominated the club's Player of the Season. He repeated the trick after being released by Reading and moving to Field Mill in summer 2006, being named Player of The Year in 2007/08 as the Stags struggled to stay in League Two.
