After claiming the No.1 jersey at Eastlands Hart’s stock has continued to rise and rise. Expect to see him between England’s posts for years to come
Shrewsbury fans were raving about their 6ft 5in custodian long before City swooped in May 2006 – he’d already made the No.1 jersey at Gay Meadow his own, aged 18.
The £1.5m fee City may eventually stump up for his services could end up as the sale of the century, though: Hart has gone from strength to strength at Eastlands.
Confident and supremely athletic, several displays – notably at Portsmouth in a 0-0 draw in November 2007 – have earned him rave notices.
Already capped for England at U19 and U21 level, Hart graduated to full honours against Trinidad and Tobago in June 2008. More caps will surely follow.
