Another to come through Peterborough’s academy, Day made his debut at London Road in February 2005, coming on as a second-half substitute as Posh lost 2-0 at home to Doncaster.
He became a first team regular during the 2005/06 season, after starting the club’s opening day defeat to Chester before impressing with a series of outstanding midfield displays at Posh finished in the top half of League Two.
Day made further strides the following season, alerting a host of top clubs to his talent, but put an end to any transfer speculation when he signed a new three-year deal with Ferguson’s side in November 2007.
