Kop favourite and life-long red with more than 500 appearances under his belt - Never-say-die defending personified
“We all dream of a team of Carraghers” sing the Kopites, and it’s little wonder that he is the undoubted fans’ favourite at Anfield: wherever Liverpool have enjoyed success over the last decade, the local lad has been at the heart of it.
Bootle-born Carragher signed professional in 1996 and made his debut a year later for Roy Evans’ side.
His passion, judgement and versatility mean he’s gone on to play more than 500 games, winning numerous trophies. This culminated in the 2005 Champions League win: the image of him collapsing with cramp after a last-minute interception illustrating the never-say-die attitude the fans adore.
