Everton’s youngest European debutant at the tender age of 16 years 284 days. Great things are expected. Watch this space
The Southport-born teenager carved a niche in Toffees’ folklore in December 2007 when he became their youngest European debutant, aged 16 years 284 days .
It was no great surprise to those in the know at Goodison – he was playing for the U18s while still just 14 and also showed his maturity in captaining England U16s.
His Premier League bow came in March 2008 as a late substitute in a 1-0 win at Sunderland, and he enjoyed another taste of victory as a replacement on the final day of the campaign against Newcastle. Can play in both defence and midfield.
