Long serving Hull stalwart who has overcome career threatening injury in 2005. Promoted three times with the Tigers
City’s longest-serving player, the indefatigable Ashbee made his name with Cambridge United before signing for then-Hull boss Jan Molby on a free transfer in July 2002.
He was installed as skipper and was instrumental in the three promotions in five years that took the Tigers to the Premier League.
His appearance in 42 league games as a driving midfielder during the 2007/08 campaign is all the more remarkable considering he missed almost the whole of 2005/06 when a fractured knee led to the discovery of a degenerative bone disorder called osteochondral defect which threatened his future in the game.
